The Auckland-Manukau Eastern Transport Initiative (AMETI) has been established to secure the ability to implement and, in due course, to develop integrated multi-modal transport infrastructure that supports population and economic growth in Glen Innes, Panmure, Tamaki, Pakuranga and East Tamaki. The project is a joint one, involving Auckland and Manukau City Councils and ARTA.
AMETI’s focus is on providing greater transport choices within and through the eastern suburbs of Auckland and Manukau cities. In particular, it aims to significantly enhance the quality and attractiveness of passenger transport and of the walking and cycling environments, recognising that not all transport demand can be accommodated by these modes alone. Improvements will also be required to the roading network, in particular to create a safer and more efficient network.
