Delivering a world-class transport system that makes Auckland an even better place to live, work and play.

Draft Auckland Regional Public Transport Plan

The Draft Regional Public Transport Plan presents ARTA’s public transport policies and sets out our proposals for service improvements. As such it will form the basis of key aspects of our public transport policy, service development and contracting activities over the next few years. Over the past few years much has been achieved in the development of public transport for the region.  This is reflected in the highest level of public transport growth in the Auckland region for twenty five years during the 2008/09 financial year with a 7.7% increase on the previous year.

Proposed improvements to our public transport system will require a significant investment of public funds. However ARTA recognises that there will always be limitations on the amount of public funds that are available for transport initiatives and the need to prioritise how those funds will best be spent. For this reason, the Plan includes a set of policies aimed at guiding the prioritisation process. Public input to these policies is particularly important. Submissions on the document have now closed.

A background document that can be read in conjunction with the Draft RPTP, to enable readers to gain an understanding of the rationale behind the policies and service descriptions that are included in the Draft RPTP is also available.
